Does anyone have one for sale or does anyone know if parts are available to convert my existing one to a 3.36?

Right now I have a 3.15 but need a 3.36.

I heard some of the diesel toronados came with 3.36, is this true?

They pop up from time to time, when a Riviera is parted out a few have been listed in cars or parts for sale forums and here on the hot air forum, seems that the 3.36 diff was only on the T Type 83 and 84 Riviera. Have not heard of anyone that had an 85 with the 3.36 (from the factory anyway)only the3.15, nor have any idea about the diesel Toronado. A place called Ace Auto Recycling in Arizona had one a few months back, they have sold a few riviera items on ebay, they had an auction for a GN/Riviera digital dash about a week ago, also a place called "The Buick Place" also in arizona ( they have a web site) they may have one left, though I just bought 2 from them @ $175 each plus $50 shipping. I had them and Ace confussed, called Ace by mistake with a quote that The Buick Place gave and the Ace guy said it was a bit more, I found my mistake and called THe Buick Place and bought, anyway the Ace Auto Recycling may still have it.

If either have one great, if not you have to look and ask around, watch for 83-4 T type Riviera's getting parted, it took me awhile, good luck.

In my search for a 3.36 I found one at Ace Auto Recycling in Arizona Thanks to the tip from TRiv. Ace said they where removing it from a 83 Turbo Riviera

It arrived today, and looks great! Cleaned and ready to install. They even included the speedo gears (one yellow and one green).

I looked for the "N" on the final drives case to verify that it is a 3.36, but it didnt have a "N". It had a "J" instead! I quicky opened it to be sure, and sure enough right on the ring gear was 3.36 stamped on it. I even counted the rotations, its a 3.36.

I have never seen a "J" before. I have seen the "M"s and the "L"s everywere but never a "J"

What the heck is that!

Oh well, at least its a 3.36!

Glad to hear everything went ok, not sure about "J" code, I only have 85 service manual for reference, so what other codes were used earlier I don't know, What is stamped on the ring gear is what matters.
