Bear with me while I ramble....

I go camping often and I like to secure a large tarp over the camp area to keep rain/dew off things. Usually I secure it to my Blazer and my friend's CRV but this next time he is not attending. My wife's van will be there but she doesn't have a luggage rack or anything.

I want to put a large suction cup either on top or on the side window glass.

Something like this:

Anyone ever use something like this? Will it hold suction until I release it?

Any other ideas for a temporary rope mount?

Thanks :)

I use a tarp over my camper too. Its large enough to have a picnic table under and plenty of room for cooler along with a place to be outside if it does rain. The tarp has eyelets (walmart) 20 by 16 Streched over top use 2 poles, ropes, and pegs to hold down behind trailer. One on each end. You can pull ropes off other eyelets as needed. In the front I use 3 poles center being adjusted tallest then both sides angle down. I bought the poles (adjustable lengths) at walmart also. Remember to use 2 stakes for each post. Taughtline hitch if you were a boyscout. Never had a problem when other lost theirs in bad storms. Might have to tighten ounce a day if windy. Will post pics if I find.

Drill a hole at the end of a 2' piece of 2x4 and thread a 1' loop of rope through the hole. Then park the rear tire on the board and tie your line to that loop. Run the rope over the top of the van for your cover. You could make two and park the vehicle facing the area, running two ropes over the rear of the van in a criss-cross pattern so they don't slide off. Probably have to tie them together at the back edge of the roof. Soft cotton rope or just pad the van with a towel where it contacts the paint.
