Sure you can, Cut the top pigtail off and check height, just make sure it sits evenly with the other side. If one side sits a bit higher you just have to turn the coil and should set evenly. Remember they will settle in a couple of days!
I've always heard that you shouldn't cut rear springs...I could be wrong though..I think it's because they are flat on the top and bottom of the spring, if cut they won't be flat.....
Another thing you can do is get a set of springs from a plain jane 83 thru 92 Camaro or Firebird. The top doesn't have a pig tail, they are smaller circumferance, and if they don't make it sit lower the way they are, you can trim them. In my opinion, the stock TR rear springs aren't really a good candidate for cutting because of their large circumferance and pigtails at both ends.
if you use varible rate springs and cut the end with the tight coils it works good
i need to go real low now and not sure what im going to use for springs but i'll come up with something... i want to get these 28/12.50 et streets tucked up in the wheel well
I ended up using rear springs from a 79 Mustang of all things. Had a set of unknown cut springs in my GN when I bought it. My cousin who works at a Carquest matched them up spring diameter wise and height and that is what I used. They had some insulators with them that go between the spring and the frame, not sure if those were the stock GN ones or not. They were a bit too low for me (the ones that were on the car) Ended up cutting about a coil off them and they work great. Only about $45 a pair so even if you cut them too short it's not too expensive to start over. Benefits are you can use the smaller diameter Mustang air bags without possibly melting them, farther away from the exhaust. Guess the F-body ones would work too.
