Pete,

Thanks for letting me try out your new 70 GTQ Turbo.

Install went real good

I had to install a stud (that was missing) on the 3 bolt exhaust housing, I removed the internal wastegate actuator (I use an ATR external), and I removed the 90 degree 1/8 npt oil line fitting off the top of the center section and installed my 1/8 npt with -6 vertical connection instead

The car started right up (no smoke) and I put a quick 2 mile run on it at various speeds / boosts (with Mark watching the FAST system)

Turbo spooled up similar to the 71 GTQ, but seemed to be torquier in the mid range. Sounded real nice with the cutout open

My Turbo should be on it's way back to Innovative tomorrow and I've crossed my fingers, feet, legs, & eyes hoping that they don't play games and they fix the Turbo (that they just rebuilt) that failed after less than 2 weeks on the car (nothing over 16 lbs of boost)

Not a big deal if it was only the center section seals, but this time when the seals failed, and the bearings went south, it allowed the compressor wheel to contact the compressor housing and it scratched not only the inner housing around the wheel, but gouged the compressor wheels also

What a mess

Thanks again for the loaner Pete, I promise to take good care of your baby, and I will get it detailed before I get it back in your hands. Let me know if something comes up and you want the turbo back (at any time) and I will get it back into your hands if not the same day, no later than the next day

I will bring the car to Irwindale on Thursday to let you see how well your turbo works out

I will be running pump gas & methanol but It will be on slicks at least

Thanks to Mark also for dropping the turbo off at my house and riding shotgun on the latest FAST system datalogging

What a great bunch of guys.............

fast who me, huh whats fast ;) I dont know anything my cars brooke heh.

Yea I have to say thumbs up to PETE as one. One of the kindest coolest cats thats been around, that I have personally delt with for many years. I owe him a lot myself, petes a cool dude.

Rays cars is just discusting, in a good way. Ran clean I agree, I can't wait for you to dial in that sucker. 18 psi on a 71gtq with a 275 is SOOO FREAKING doable! Behaved very wheel IMHO, with slicks and 25 psi look out low 10's easy. Turn it up some more and a 9'er could be in the future! Man i think im going to wet my paints with my t66 and a 295 tire. I prey my runs are half as clean as Rays/Nordys fast logged runs. O yea, whats fast again? Something with a laptop I heard ;)

2 Thumbs up for RAY and PETE!

PeteGN, you are the man ;) .. what a true friend..

Ray.. i'm glad you are up and running. truely looking forward on seeing how that turbo pushes your car on Thursday  .. maybe i'll be stepping backwards in size..

i agree pete is a really good friend to me, ive delt with him for years already and have nothing bad to say about the guy, hell hes even wrenched with me on my car, i owe alot to this guy, friends like him dont come along often, and a great tuner also, his car is capable of low 10s with the lil mods hes got if it wasnt for the road not letting his tires grip;) , thumbs up for pete, RAY i might take my GN also this thursday so that makes 2 GNs, nordy and brent lets get it going guys.

Andrew, Whats The Good Word?

Good to hear from you Andrew

And yes, if you heard the distant rumble of an uncapped spooling GN, it probably was me as i was up and down Tustin Ave (4) times this afternoon...lol

So what is the latest on your engine?

When are we going to have a wrench party to slide it back into place?

This past month has been pretty brutal on Turbo Buicks, lots of GN Brothers down for the count

Things are starting to shape up though

Of course we might have to cannibalize (2) GN's in order to get enough parts to get (4) other GN's running again, but you do what you have to do..:D

Thanks to Dr. Pete my car has a Temporary Turbo Pacemaker......it's so nice to be cruising around again, but it sucks to know that someday soon I will have to rip the temporary heart back out of my car and give it back to its rightful owner...

Right now I'm just a volunteer vessel, keeping the GTQ70 nice and warm

hope to see everyone on Thursday

It's really good to see turbobrick brother helping turbobrick brother here. That's what this hobby is supposed to be all about.

Good friend

I have to say that Pete is a real good friend. He has been helping me along in my project to get it done the right way. He is a person that is not greedy and he will guide you into the right direction. It' hard to find someone for advice and guide you trough it without expecting anything in return. I give Pete thumbs up. Thanks for youe help Pete.

Ray,

I was leaning for Lou to do the install due to the fact that there have been some very "creative" individuals who have worked on the car in the past. The last person who pulled the motor out did a hack job removing and re-installing it. Lou was even impressed by the lack of reguard on the work. I'd like to save the money and do it my self, but I have a feeling that most of the motor is going to be zip-tied together if I go that route. At least with Lou putting the car back together I know its done right.
Dont worrie Ray, I am sure there will be something for us to do. LOL

Pete, I dont know you but so far you sound like a stand-up guy. So thanks for being of help to th individuals in need.

Have a great day.....
