maf and o2 sensor questions.

The o2 sensor is not used until the car is in closed loop correct? The stock computer for my 85 does not have programming for a "default" maf configurations. I need a working maf plugged in at all times or else it won't run. correct?

Open loop or closed loop a bad MAF means you are out of luck. If you suspect a bad MAF you have problems because they do not make the MAF for the 84-87 TTYPES anymore. Get a good used one 85, convert to the 87 ECM and get a used 87 MAF or convert to the 87 ECM and get the LS1 MAF and translator. The reman MAF really do not work. Good luck- Brad
