Trying to figure out why a friend lost a second MAF 2 weeks after replacing the first one.
What should the readings be (if any) on the plug that goes to the MAF??
Is there anything else that cause the MAF to go bad or make the car act likes the MAF is bad?

We are going to check the second MAF out on another car to make sure it is/has gone bad.

TIA,
Gary

FWIW,

The remanufactured MAFs from discount auto parts stores are known to be a "crap shoot" when it comes to quality. Sometimes they work OK, sometimes they do not.

If the K&N filter was overly oiled during the MAF replacement, that oil can cause the MAF heated wire to not work right also.

come on guys we need some help on this and thanks for the help gary . what are the readings at the plug ????????????/ rick good night

It's not as simple as that. Unless you have an O'scope and already have seen the wave form that you're looking for, there's not much need to try interpreting the signal coming out of the MAF.

The pink wire with black tracer supplies 12vdc to the maf

The black wire with white tracer is ground.

The grey wire with red tracer is the signal out wire. Don't bother looking at this one without an O'scope.
