SignUp Now!If I change the maf,all I need is a translator not a chip or both?
are you running the 86/87 computer?
the translator has quite a few adjustments you can make with it. somebody else may know, but there might be a chance you could use the lt1 and translator with the 84/85 computer.
i'm sure you probably already know this, but just throwing it out there since your going over your options. converting over to the better (because of chip selection) 86/87 computer is as easy as unpluging the old one, and pluging the new one in. Turbotweak can burn a chip that doesn't need the air temp sensor.
then, of course, lt1 maf and translator will definetly be no problem
If I use the 86/87 computer what else will I need? Coil pack, module,ect..or
Not.
Here is the real truth.
The 84/85 ECM is a dinosaur.
The 84-87 original MAF are a dinosuar.
The 84/85 coil pak and coil module is a dinosaur.
The remanufactored 84-87 MAF are basically crap and do not work right.
If you keep your hot air long enough you will end up here.
Replace the coil module and pak to the 87.
Replace the ECM to an 87 with chip.
Get a new GM MAF from an earlier Chevy Impalla SS- 3 inch.
Buy a MAF translator- Plug and play- one simple setup switch.
This will get you started. Brad
