Just got the car running pretty good and ready to go to track. I put a new v8 radiator in and new hoses. Now it still runs smooth until you push it past 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and it coughs, backfires, stumble or whatever. Could an o2 sensor do that. About the only thing not new is the coil pack (still original). Is that a possiblity? I don't know what I could have bumped changing the radiator or maybe just coincidence. What about cam sensor?
Thanks for advice

sounds exactly like my car when i had a bad coilpack/module.don't know which it was,i changed em both and it runs like a champ:).

you still running the 84 coilpack/module?

Yep, still have the 84 coil. I guess I should get the adapter from Poston's and then get the 87 set from someone like Regal Red T.
Anyother suggestions where to buy the stuff?

i didn't test mine,i just diagnosed it from reading this board:).

i'm sure casper's makes the adapter harness that poston sells, don't know who sells em cheaper.i'd probably buy the coilpack/module off red regal t.

The quickest way, but will not always tells you if it's bad, is to ohm out the coil pairs...I think the spec is no more than 11.5k ohms per pair...Casper's Electronics makes the wiring harness adapter for the 87 ign mod/coil pack...

Thanks guys,
Put on the new coil and ignition module from Red Regal T and the conversion from Caspers. It fixed the problem. I'm ready to finish tuning and head for the track. I should be able to get into the 12's now.

Glad to hear the problem is solved.
For future reference the coilpack resistance should be 11K-13K ohms/ tower. Good luck :)
