coils

I recently discovered that GM made somewhat hotter coils for the type II. They came on 85 Luminas (Methanol cars). I purchased 3 for $ 100. from GM (wholesale) If interested I can sent you the GM part #. This was confirmed by a friend who was on the design team @ Delco for the Type II coil. Lots pf people say that the type II are no good. This same friend put one on my car in 1989 and it has worked flawlessly.

I wrote them down last time you posted them:D .have you installed your hotter coils?anything noticeable?

What module's do u use for these, I haven't done much research on these but would like to know.

these coils work

I put these hotter coils on my car and they work great....I could even increase the gap on my plugs a little bit without a miss.

So what makes a coil hotter? What are the specs for the two different coils?

I have the type II coils, but used the MSD CD adapter blocks and then have 3, Accel 300 ingnition box (one for each coil). That gives me 3 sparks from idle to 6,000.
This is enough spark :)

i thought the stcok coils on our cars were pretty good.
is it really worth it to upgrade to the MSD or get the parts from other cars in a junkyard?

I guess no one knows the answer to my first question:confused: Then does anyone know what the limits of each system is? Isn't this a good way to evalute the different ignition types? I've heard that the type II didn't work for some people, does anyone know the particulars of why it didn't work?

So, just buy those 3 parts, slap 'em on and you're good to go?

Same plugs and wires work? Clearance is straight? ECM works with it?

Am I making sense?

your wires probably won't work.....a couple of 'em will be short...clearance is the same as the 1 piece unit.....the type II coils have nothing to do with the ecm so they work fine...
