Need a new lawnmower engine

It's a Snapper with a 7HP B&S "Intek".

Is there anybody here in the lawnmower business that might be able to guesstimate how much new engines cost?

Also, are there any options to get a more powerful engine? 7hp my ass - it bogs down and dies in heavy grass same as my 5hp engine did.

I bought my snow thrower from them. They had a great deal on them toward the end of last season that included free shipping. Then they had an even better deal a few weeks later and credited me the difference between my price and the new sale price. Good people to deal with.

Yes you can go bigger. I replaced mine with a 9hp. You might need to find a universal muffler kit. Not all engines use the same muffler. If your mower came with an on engine fuel tank you might need to get a Snapper side positioned tank. Not all on engine tanks will clear some of the mower hardware. Next check that the bolt pattern will work and that the crank shaft out put is correct. They may all be standard up to a curtain out output.

Are we talking riding or push. My 9hp riding does not bog,,,,,,,but I do keep the blade really sharp.
