Speedometer in my AVC dash has issues. It is the old fashioned cable driven unit with analog numbers for mileage and trip miles. No lcd. I can get a new Autometer speedometer which looks similar to the VDO unit for $105 from Summit/Jegs. I emailed VDO and they referred me to Nichols Speedometer Service in Greensboro, NC. I called Nichols and the person said it would cost $120 to repair it with a 1 year warranty. Anyone ever hear of Nichols? Any suggestions?

Try giving a call to North Hollywood Speedo & Clock in LA. They are also a VDO repair centre & did mine. Since I live in Canada where the speeds are posted in KM's, they successfully recalibrated my mechanical VDO speedo to Kilometers and made up a new face plate.

I called them and they want $160 (!!!) to repair it. Thanks for the tip though. I ordered an Autometer from Jegs and it should be here today. I might have to paint the bezel black as it is chrome. The face is pretty close to the VDO black face with white numbers and white hash marks. I hope the push button for the trip odometer slips through the hole in the AVC face plate like the VDO did. It is the 105-3992 http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...erPage=60&Ne=1+2+3+13+1147708&searchTerm=3992
