Looking at pg 7 of AMS500 instructions
http://www.nlrsystems.com/core/docs/AMS-500 User Manual.pdf

I see manifold presure being fed to both sides of wastegate, so they cancel each other, & WG runs on spring pressure

If activate decrease solenoid , pressure releases from top of Wgate & manifold pressure overcomes spring to opens wgate.

By the instruction diagram , I dont see how increase solenoid increases boost ?

Also by the diagram if increase soleniod is closed the controler will not see changes in boost , is this drawing correct ?

Enlighten me !

the drawing is correct. Manifold pressure is always going to the bottom of the wastegate and a solenoid regulated pressure is being applied to the top of the wastgate. The more pressure applied, the higher the boost. The less pressure, the lower the boost.

So to lower boost ;
Increase solenoid closes, Decrease sol. opens ( to bleed pres out of w gate top ) ?

Now how does controler see new manifold pressure as with increase solenoid shut, the controller is out of contact with manifold pressure ?

Or is this cycle happening at high frequency ?

Thanks for the info Cal.

The controller doesn't care what the manifold pressure is. That is why some people use CO2 in place of the manifold pressure on top of the wastegate. You program how much pressure on top of the wastegate NOT how much pressure in the intake manifold.

With cals last post , Im really confused, so called NLR

Am writing this for any future searchers.

They say, its like a manual boost controler, it has no input from the engine.
Like a MBC you keep turning it up till the boost is were you want it.

The psi you set in the AMS500 is not " boost" , its top wgate pressure.

Depending on wg spring, exhuast backpressure, etc the boost may or may not be close to this setting.

I was originally thinking , set the dials to the "boost" wanted & its done.

Coming from a Translator pro thats how it was done.
The Tpro reads off a 3 bar map , so the set & actual #'s are alot closer.
