so heres the problem i been having! I noticed ive been losing coolant lil by lil with no obvious leak from a hose or radiator what so ever. Popped off the breather and i had milky oil. Eventually the car start running rough. Also the SES light flashes and the car hesitates, as if it wants to die but doesnt. Yet my car doesnt over heat or smoke to be a head gasket. In addition i had just did a ignition module swap with one from AZ. A couple time it thru code 42, which is something about the module. Do you guys think it can be a bad module? and that i need to replace my intake gasket that may be bad? Or you think it could be a head gasket, even tho im not smoking?

Im actually in the middle of doing a compression test, so far so good on the passager side which is slowing me down with the lil room we have.

I think u have a blown head gasket. Milky oil is not good. I know u probably didn't want to hear that but chances are great since that is one of the biggest problems when detonation occurs.

Is the oil in the crankcase milky looking? Sometime condensation collects in the breather making it look milky, while the rest of the oil is OK.

Li more in info. I took the valve covers off and only mily was under the driver side cover. Then I took the intake gasket off and it was in the gasket and I can see where the water was leaking from into the driver side valve!
Now when u have a blown heas gasket wouldn't it be milky everywhere? And milky oil when u drain it? Because it was just on the ds valve cover and on the intake gasket!
Also compression test showed all cylinders fine around 120.

Came to the conclusion its not a blown HG. I cleaned out all the goop that was under the valve cover and put the new gasket in last night. Took it for a drive for about 30min. Radiator level stayed the same. No milky oil under valve cover.
Yet there still was the lil hesitation every once in a while. So I believe its the maf. I took it off and noticed a water/oil residue on it, somehow got to it. So imma swap it out and see what happens

Maybe it is the HG, still getting coolant milky oil.
Can someone tell me the torque specs for the cylinder head bolts? Are they the same aw the 86/87? Just want to make sure they all torqued down correct.
Also what HG should I go with? Want to get some rigbt away so ones available at a parts store. Also can you tell me what's needed with the HG. As far as do I need to do something to the cylinder head for the specific HG u recommend. Plan on fixing this myself, never done this b4. so need as much info I need. thanks

Ok 80#s, u recommend a certain gasket thats available at a parts store. Noticed you had the felpro 1000s b4

The Felpro 1000 worked fine. I blew one out by going cheap on a used MAF sensor, over boost and wrong timing. Basically my own mistake. I now use Cometic steel ones only because there is no milkshake in my future. Do some research on gasket thickness and make you own decision. I think it does not really matter in our case. Brad

You probably should get a head set. & I recommend new head bolts, preferably ARP

Here's a link for the time I had that question. U decide the brand since you're doing the job.

Have the driver side off and the passenger is almost off too. But low n behold it was a fel-pro 87321 or whatever the one you guys say is a no no for our cars. This is what the ppl that rebuilt my engine put on. Can you guys tell from the pics if it was the gasket or what not. I personally cant tell nor do I know what to look for. Post passenger side in a bit when I get that off.

I believe the the cylinder with the rusty valve is the one that was taking in water.

Are u sending out the heads to be resufaced?

If u do, check your valves to see if u have a good seal before putting it all together again.

No didnt get them resurfaced didnt need to.
I was taught a long time ago if the heads come off they should be resurfaced. specially in the occasion that you've had a leaking head gasket. Who really knows why the gasket failed? Better to be safe than sorry! Just my opinion.
