I have been experiencing what I thought was an ignition problem, but appears to be a interferance between the direct scan and my ecm, caused by the cable.(did a search on here) Was wondering what I could use to insulate the cable to prevent this?? Also do I have to insulate tbe cable that runs from the ecm to the direct scan box, or the cable that runs from the box to the laptop, or both??

Also, anyone ever run a scan master and a DS in the same car and have problems?? I like having the scan master to monitor the car on the fly and was wondering if this could cause a problem??

Yes, insulate the ribbon cable from the ECM to the DS box. You can call Conleys and they sent me a shield for the ribbon cable for free. You have to take the end off the ribbon cable, curl the ribbon, and carefully slide and stretch the shield over the cable, and reinstall the cable end. I had many wierd codes and problems and this solved them. And yes, you can run SM and the DS, works for me. See this thread when I asked about the problem:

Wrapping lots of tin foil around the cable works also. Cured my DS related problems.
