how much boost can these motors take stock. and how many miles could i expect to get out of a stock engine/transmision/rear end. of course, i realize that mialage depends greatly on the persons right foot.

In 100% stock trim the max is around 19 psi. A stock turbo can put out as much as 23-26, but you need: 1- a different chip. 2-an adjustable wastegate, and 3-adjustable fuel pressure regulator (upgrading injectors wouldn't hurt either). As far as durability goes yes it depends on how it's driven and how religious the service is. When cared for properly, mileage upwards of 150k is more than realistic, some members claim over 200 with no rebuilds.

yeah, i meant a stock block with stock valve train and stuff like that, and with some bolt-on upgrades such as chips/fuel pump/ fuel pump regulator/ jets/wastegate. i dont have one of these yet, but i plan on getting one as soon as possible, and i was just wondering about the durability of these cars with a few bolt on performance upgrades, as it will be driven every day, rain or shine. thanks for the info.

A bud has had his GN since 87, travels the Mid-Atlantic as a GM Regional Service director, & has 340K on original motor w/o rebuild. :)
