newbie/general g/n & t-type questions

1. what year was the digital dash avail? was it an option or std? was it avail on the t-type?

2. what is a t-type "Limited?"

3. were different rear end gear ratios every avail?

4. did t-types ever have a v-8?

5. why did GM make 25,000 1987 g/n's & only 5,000 in 1986?

6. what improvements/differences were made in 87?

7. was the side engine vents on the GNX effective in removing engine heat or was it more decorative than functional?

8. why did they make 547 GNX's? why not a round number like 500 or 600?

I'm at work, I dont have my books with me but here goes off the top of my head. Correct me anybody if I'm wrong.

1. I know for a fact 1987, My GN has it. It wasnt standard just an option. I think I talked to somebody that had a Dig dash as far back as 83. Dont know for sure, I didnt actually see the car.

2. T Type Limited was a (Luxury) package buick had. The T Limiteds had Bench seats, colum shift Landau tops (Vinyl), Side cornering lights, Basically Lincoln town car type stuff to apeal to most likely a more elderly buyer. And of course T Type having the gran touring suspension and most likely a Turbo 6.

3. No not for the Turbo engine option.

4. Yes, they came with the carbed 5 litre, 307 cid. T type meant it had a firmer suspension and aluminium wheels. Ive heard its a rare car tho.

5.Dealers realized it was the last year and stocked up. I dont think word was out in general that the new performance from the intercooler made is a screamer...but by 87 most people knew and ordered them. why so few Ts that year...prolly just the dealers ordering the super loaded GNs to make better profits.

6.Buick ditched the gawd awfull chrome strip on the front. Along with Adding one #of boost and calling the horsepower slightly more than the year before otherwise nothing really.

7. Functional. But Buicks herritage seems to carry the 3 fender vent kind of look. so a good portion of both in my opinion.

8.They intended on just 500 GNXs but again I figure its just since more people wanted them. The number goes along with 1,547 We4's made that year too.
