Are you retarding the timing automatically somehow (MSD DIS 4 ??? ) or just running a low timing chip?

I'm not sure you can even do a timing retard with the DIS. Can you add a retard module? I want it all, good street timing and proper nitrous retard all selectable, not burnt into (1) program in the chip.

How do you do it?

What kind of fuel pump(s) are you using with a nitrous system on your turbo car?

Do you have to mess with the fuel pressure to hose it? Is the fuel system for the nitrous that sensitive?

The FAST ecu handles it :-) The d*mn MSD has a timing retard, but it's active at a given rpm and not switched like a nitrous retard should be <sigh> Whatever. Maybe Crane will come out with a 6 cyl version of theirs soon...

Otherwise you'll just have to run a retarded timing nitrous chip setup or equivalent and have it active all the time. Unless someone want to get creative and write some chip patch code to switch a retard value in. But if you plan to spray during ~ all races then that's ok. Or if you only run a 50 shot anyway then maybe 2 deg timing retard isn't worth worrying about off the spray anyway.

Another way is to use a thumbwheel chip setup. In the old days I was using a Prom Pack that contained 4or 5 different chips that you selected with a key switch.
No, Prom Pack aren't available, company been out of business since mid 90s.

Hey Todd... The FAST stays with the GN :)

The economy car gets the hosing! How much timing would you use with a 50 shot and 25# out of a TE-44 (or equivalent) into an iron headed motor with a smallish cam on STOCK pistons?

Emphasis on STOCK pistons...

Well the stockers seem to be darn strong. And a 50 shot is small really :-) If it were me I'd just go with 2-3 deg less than whatever the timing is w/o the hose at 25 psi boost. Assuming it's set correctly to begin with. If you believe it's timed conservative to begin with then I'd use -2 deg. Otherwise -3 deg to start. Just don't let it get lean with the hose. Start overly rich. Depending on your setup, not every cyl will have the same a/f ratio. Being over rich covers your *ss initially until you can check the perf and a few sets of plugs and all. JMO.

No problem.

if you are running the stock pump you should be ok i ran that way with a 75 shot for quite sometime and all was good but i recomend a bocsh in line or a larger walbro pump just to be safe as far as the timing i run a thumbwheel for the different sizes of shot from 50hp up to 200hp depending on the comp.;) its nice just at the click of a switch. wilkenshc set up my thumbwheel for me after a couple of direct scan runs and cleared up those 50 knocks in first:eek:   (woops):D but hey the car was cool with it ;) ....good luck and happy hunting
