I just bought a 2000 GTP. I know this is a buick site, but I would rather ask this question here. The car did not get any boost until 3000 rpm. Now there is none. My question is, is there a boost silinoid or a sensor on theses cars. The car has no codes and still runs.

im pretty sure they have a bypass valve that will go around the supercharger in regular driving for better mpg. i think its located on the front side of the engine just behind the tail of the sc case. it should look like a vacume actuated unit with a swing arm. this unit not wrking properly is just about the only reason i could see why you wouldnt be making boost. hope this helps

the stock boost gage runs off of the MAP sensor and refreshes quite slowly. It may be that by the time it does start to give you a reading you're already past 3k rpm. Map sensor sends the signal to the PCM which sends the signal to the gage cluster or DIC or where ever the GTP gage is.

If you only go part throttle, or ease into the throttle the Boost bypass valve will not close right away

from a dead stop you should be building plenty boost if your floor the car, dont have traction control on.. launch the car like you would at the track, and see what happens.

boost

You hold the gas steady and the rpm goes up and down about 300 rpm and won't stay still untill the boost kicks in.The boost kicks in late only at 3000 rpm and up.

boost

If you stab it, it won't boost untill 3000 rpm. If you keep the pedal in one spot excelerating the rpm will not stay steady. It will go up and down with in 300 rpm.
