Last night I put on my new billet vacuum block with a vacuum port for vacuum brakes (plugged off for now until the powermaster gets weak... just thinking ahead)
well. I go to crank it and start it today and i hear a loud pop... pop the hood and it blew off the rubber plug i put on it
well... this isnt a new problem, just first time it' had something to blow off like that.
Every couple days while cranking i'll get a backfire through the intake that lights up my boost gauge. but then i can just stop and crank again and it'll fire and idle. What could cause this?
I also have a slightly rough idle, not too bad though, about on par with my cammed 305 in my camaro, but i figured a stock 87 GN with EFI would idle better
Also my car has poor performance. I know that there isnt a flat cam lobe on the driver's side cylinders, but I have yet to look at the passenger side. Timing chain has been done, heads were redone a while back before i got the car, and all that.
Could I be looking at a flat lobe on the passenger side bank? Car still drives decent, but the lack of performance, slightly rough idle, and this backfire out the intake while cranking every now and then makes me think so. I'm going to pull the passenger side valve cover and check anyway since I havent yet and I have a gasket, but would like any input. Thanks
