Oil return line ?

I got a steel braided oil return line and was wondering if I need to take the water pump off to get easier access and with out messing up the braides in the line cause it to leak. Any info is really appreciate. This is the only thing stand in my way of getting my car running again.

when i put mine on i didnt have to remove the water pump, if i remember correct, it was the maf tube, inlet bell, up-pipe, an dsome other small things. but i had to buy some big sized wrenches to remove the stock fitting that is screwed into the block. it was really a job that i would only want to do once since i went through 3 stock lines before i bought that one.
