Original gn trans with vrf tag???

I have some one trying to sell me a trans off is gn and telming me its the original trans off is car but it has a tag written vrf on it and not brf is that possible?

On some transmissions the tag was riveted on backwards at the factory. The factory then engraved the code on the visible side of the tag.Look behind the tag for the id if this is the case and it will be present.
