I saw this thing on ebay:
OTC System 2000 Communicator

Could somebody tell me more about what it does. Would it be good for recording ¼ mile runs? I have a Monitor 2000, but it's impossible to watch while racing. ;)

Thanks!

Not really. Just think of it as an early 80's clunky old modem. It's used for translating the OTC info and transmitting it to other devices.

I used one of those way back when (and it's companion, the "Annunciator" Sheez! Who comes up with these names!?).

Dave's right, it's basically a HUGE clunky and slow modem. The Annunciator had memory in it that allowed you to capture multiple runs. With all that wired up in the car, it was like being at a phone switchboard ...

After borrowing the stuff from a local dealer, that's when I decided to take a shot at doing something on a laptop instead ... and after a bitterly cold Nebraska winter (in my nice heated garage! :)) TurboLink was born!
