While looking at the motor on an 87' GN from the drivers side, what is the big round part that is just to the right of the fuel pressure regulator that looks like a vaccum hose is attached to it. What does it do. The reason that I'm asking is because the hose keeps coming off of it. Will this hurt anything? Thanks, R.B.

i believe you are referring to the EGR valve. its for emissions. if your check valve is working properly you will have a vacuum leak (and subsequent rough idle) but not a boost leak since the check valve closes under boost. EGR is for emissions. some guys take theirs off some dont. it doesnt affect performance either way. get that line fixed though or you will be chasing down idle, drivability, weird codes and readings, etc forever.
