Powdercoat question

Have a set of spindles that I want to powdercoat. I know not to have powdercoat where the bearing ride on. Could the surface where the inner grease seal (the rubber part) rides on, be powdercoated? I know it's going to wear off.

Just like aminga says Billy, mask it so the retainer will fit.
