I am diagnosing my brake system and before I just order an accumulator I want to be sure that is what I need. After pumping brake pedal 12 times ign off, turn key on and pump runs for 15 secs and brake lite goes off after 13 secs (another time was 13 sec for pump and brake lite goes off after 10).
No pump starts within 2 min with ign on and no pedal. Each time I push the pedal the pump cycles 3-4 secs and the lite comes on and then goes off.
I don't have a pressure gage to check the accumulator pressures so is there anything definitive in my test results here to tell me exactly what it may be?
Also the travel seems to be excessive from what I am use to. Thanks

How far down does the pump pull the inner reservoir?
Optimal ops...
Key off. Press pedal until its get hard
Turn key on and the pump will kick on and pull the inner (engine side) reservoir down to 1/4ish of a inch in ten seconds and shut off.

The pump cycling with each push of brake pedal is not good. You will soon burn up the pump, like I did. I went to hydroboost and never looked back. Any chance your power master has a lifetime warranty? If so I would send the whole thing back for a rebuild (or a parts swap or whatever the hell they do).

I figure the pump cycling is not a good thing. I do know the pump pulls the reservoir down near the bottom. Can I run the pump without the cover on?

If it's cycling every time you hit the pedal you need an accumulator. The longer you keep the old accumulator, the better your chances are of needing both it and a motor.
