HELP!! preasure regulator install ( PTS Shift kit) stock regulator stuck!?

PTS SHift kit

Ok did the shift kit and now working on the presure regulator.

I pulled the c clip and it will not pop out. I have the trans on the a motor stand upside down. So pushed it down and up few times to see if it would pop up. Then I turned the trans right side up and pushed to see if it would drop out. NO luck. I don't want to mess it up. Does it have to be in park or 1st 2nd or 3rd to get this out? Has anyone else had this problem? So it sits till I get some more info on why the stock regulator is not coming out.

Thanks
Chris

Just stubborn, if you turn it right side up and tap on it for a while with small punch and hammer lightly it will usually come out. I have heard someone on here have to go so far as to drill their's and thread a bolt in to pull it but that was first I've ever heard that extreme.

you know if I had my rearend in and I was waiting on just this I would be really peaved. Oh well cars not going anywhere soon. I will try the tapping thing and see what happens.

Paging WE4 Paging WE4 :D

Pump housing was turned just ...

the slightest bit on mine, so that I had to recess it a little with a dremel. After that it popped out and across the garage:D !

Well I am about to take the top lip down with som very fine grit sand paper. That should do it. if it does not then I will report back

Chris

I'm having the exact same problem today . I've even drilled and taped a 1/4" bolt in and this thing will NOT come out . If you take the front pump cover out can you get at it that way and tap it out ?????? PIA !!!

hehe...

I remember when we did mine back in September we had a heck of a time getting the stock one out.
Bruces only advice was "patience :) "

All we did was tap up on it, for about an hour, and it finally came out far enough that I could grab it.

Getting the new one back in was fun too. That took probably....3 hours. Only way I could get it to go was to take some 1500 grit sandpaper to it and take just enough material off to get it up in.

Finished !!

I hit the lip with fine grit sand paper and then tapped on it for about 35min. That dumb thing poped out. The rest was cake walk because I have the trans on a motor stand. Anyways thanks for all the help. I am sure some other people will learn from this one. Oh and KWIKR 1 Good luck, just takes some time I guess

Thanks guys
Chris

looks like I'll have to pull the trans .I tried EVERYTHING! that thing is not coming out . :D . I've been told you can get them out if you remove the front pump cover . I was just bored today and had the PTS .570" valve kicking around .soooo ,I thought I would just pop the old one out and put the new one in . yeah right !:) It's the smalll jobs that become big ones lol .

I'd bet if you left the snap ring off, buttoned it all up and refilled with fluid, it would be in the bottom of the pan seconds after starting it up!
