Is there a way to prime an 84 hot air motor before i install in a vehicle?
Get a SBC priming tool and a drill. This should work.
Be sure to prime untill the oil comes out of EACH pushrod. I turned the motor 90 degrees each time and pime for a full 360 rotation. Easy to do on a stand.

A side note;
Are you adding GM EOS?

What Jerry said plus pack the pump with vasoline or it will never prime. I usually run a cheap filter, prime it, then swap filters. The vasoline won't pass through the filter.

I have to strongly disagree with what the guy said about not needing to pack the pump. I've tried it without packing the pump along with some friends and we could not get oil pressure. My gears were not dry either. The only way I mangaged to do it was hooking up the dremel to the pump shaft. A high speed drill wasn't enough. I spun the pump for nearly a minute at some crazy rpm and who knows how much I damaged the pump running it nearly dry like that.
