What's up.....The stork is bringing my 87 GN next week and I was curious if anyone knew the production numbers for that year? If possible, a breakdown of t-top, hardtop, and moonroof cars would be helpful. I also see cars advertised as WE-4's. Is this something special and how do you tell if you have one? I hope I am not being a nuisance. I'm just getting anxious waiting for it. Thanks:)

Your best bet is to go to www.gnttype.org . They have production #'s and what options you could get on each model. A WE4 is basically a GN but lighter and faster. Most WE4's are not decked out with a lot of options. They are supposed to be faster because they are lighter. But both drivetrains are identical.

Trunk has the option code label on it.

WE2 for a Grand National

WE4 for a yup.... WE4

Whole bunch of GN's made that year I think 10K or so.

There is no breakdown of T-top, hardtop, and astroroof cars.

Guessing 1 in 11 or so had the astroroof.

A WE4 is very special. :)

No spoiler, gray interior not the black GN one, aluminum wheels, aluminum bumper supports, T badges and wheel.

I have both types of cars, I prefer the ;)

20,193 GNs were made in 1987

A WE4 is a black T-Type with the black out package and black bumpers. Most of them have the same options on them as what's in a GN. T-types are lighter many times simply because of the wheels. The GN has steel wheels and the T-Type had aluminum. I drove a light weight GN that I was considering. It had crank windows and T-roofs. Rare car.

The lightest weight car I have ever come across is one that I owned for about 6 months. Should of kept it. It was an 87 T with posi, air and delay wipers. That's it. No other options. In fact it had an AM radio, bench seat with a column shift, no tinted glass and no mirror on the passengers door.
