question about using the ls1 maf

hello all im not sure if using the ls1 -lt1 maf sensor would help my car every thing seems to be bone stock would it be a wise idea to buy one with the translator and install it on a stock motor or would it just be good to keep the stock one and where would i find the translator at ( website)? any particular number to look for on the maf ? thanks in advance , brian
