Is there anything in the rear end that would cause a light metallic tapping or ticking noise while under load in drive???? The reason that I asked is I have this intermediate noise only when I'm driving, will not make the noise in reverse, park or neutral. I raised the rear end today and put jack stands under the axle put the car in drive and it would not make the noise. Removed the jack stands backed down my driveway and the noise started while pulling back into my garage. Puzzled!!!!

U joints can make odd noises. Pull the drive shaft and check them for smooth movement.

Thanks for the reply. I replaced the u joints noise is still there.
