Is there anything available for our cars that will lower boost automatically when computer "hears" detonation? Saab had this back in 1984 for it's turbo cars, and you wouldnt have to fudge around under the hood. I know we have a few in car boost contro options, but can't see why it can't be controlled automatically.
 
Actually, the stock chips have this provision in them. It is however a little known, and even less utilized function.

There's two locations in the chip:

% Duty Cycle reduction for knock (stock value, 12.5%)

Max retard before lowering Duty Cycle (stock value 15)

You can see by the second line that it takes a lot of retard to even kick this function in (15).

Carefull manipulation of these two bytes should yield more realistic controls.
