Did anyone else read the new GM Hightech Performace with the Trans am with the rear mounted turbo? They are saying it's the new wave of turbocharging cars. I wanted to see some pics of the turbo mounted under the rear of the car. Anyone have their ideas on if this would work?

And no I'm not thinking about trying it.

Do a search buddy. It's been discussed a few times already. In fact someone on the board helps install them at a shop.

Try www.ststurbo.com Pretty impressive results. Never tried it though, but it would be neat to try on my little Century that I drive everyday!! ;)

I have the video of th eoriginal test car and have spoken to them many times. Many people "Assume" that the car would suffer from severe lag and it doesn't. There are a few guys in the LS!.com website making well over 400 rwhp on bone stock cars and really low boost.

I was tempted to buy an LS1 just to try it. I think the most important part that people are missing is the fact that it's 100% emissions legal because it's after the cat. You probably can do anything you wish south of the catalytic from an emissions standpoint.

That trans am only ran a 12.45 with 600 horse and 12 pounds of boost. Do you guys think it should have been quicker? It did have a high 60 time

The rear turbo set up needs an inter-hotter to heat the exhaust up for some more heat-energy to turn the turbine.... ;) Maybe a front mount turbo with a rear inter-cooler .... :p

What was the trap speed? ET is more related to traction and not HP. My friends shop installed a TT setup on a 00 SS and the guy spun 3 gears and ran low 12s, but at 125.xxx mph.

I do agree it should be alot quicker, but if it ran slicks, the rear would probably be left at the line.

I know it had some fat BFG drag radials, like 325's or something Ill have to check out the trap speed.
