Put a Bulldog remote starter in my wife's 98 Jimmy about a year ago and it has worked flawlessly up until today. She remote started it today and the starter wouldn't disengage. She couldn't get the truck to shut off when she turned off the key. Pressing on the brake pedal which normally would shut off the truck if it is running on remote start wouldn't work so she drove it home about 2 miles with the starter still engaged!
Smelled that tell-tale sign of something electrical overheating when she got home and letting it sit overnight to cool off. (heading out to watch the Richmond NASCAR race at a friend's) So should I assume this starter is now toast? I got the truck to shut off when she got home and when I tried to restart it I got the same reaction an old school muscle car would have when hot with a lot of timing. Barely cranking over and acting like the battery was dead.
I've NEVER had a starter stay engaged after the motor starts so I am leaning towards a screwup with the remote starter module. I wired in the starter myself and I am confident that it was done properly. Anyone ever have this happen? First day of vacation and don't feel like dealing with vehicle maintenance!
