In taking the motor out of my car i need to take the air conditioner pump off, however how do i get the compressor of without releasing the chemical in it that is hazardous to the environment?

take the bolts off the pump (everything but the line bolt). Then, take the brackets off the radiator that hold the lines in place so you can swing the unit out of harms way. I found that it was easier to remove the intake and then set the pump in that area. If your pulling your engine, the radiator should come out anyway, so you could simple let it hang below the engine and be safe just the same.

Good luck

ac

if its one that will fit an 86/87 and works i'm looking for one. Just let me know if your wanting to sell it or keeping it incase you want it later. It gets hot in texas so i'd like to have it just incase.

go to an AC shop and have them suck the refrigerant out of the system with their vacuum pump. then you can just unhook the lines and take the pump out.

Why disconnect the lines when you don't have to??

Unless you want to delete the A/C or replace the compressor.

dont open it up to the atmosphere huge fine and smells like **** lol

bring it to a shop they should be more than glad to first recover the refrigant into there machine because it is reused into there tank and than they pump it back in to recharcge other cars

vacuming the system is after they first make the pressure to 0 after recovering the old refrigant than they vacume it to around -30 and recharge

bring it to a shop and just ask to recover my freeon depending what type it is, r12 is old **** they might not do it, than ide tell you to drive into a field and take out the valve on the high and low side

but if it was converted they would most likely take it
