Hey guys, I've done some searches on here for infor about this... im sure its been discussed to death, but my copmuter illiteracy prevents me from finding anything helpful on a search:mad:

I just got some gauges for myy car, along with the panels they mount in (specifcally a-pillar and the one that fits 2 gauges in the console, under the radio binncale). I didnt think to ask the guy i bought them from what the colors were. The console gauge pod is black, which i could live with, and may just leave alone... it doesnt look too bad with the black carpet in my 85. The A-pillar 2-gauge pod on the other hand is a dark burgundy/maroon, which needless to say kinda sticks out in my color scheme. What is the easiest way to repaint these to match the stock grey interior color? Ideally im looking for something from a rattle-can with a pretty close color match that i can get pretty easily (sherwin williams = good, mail order specialty = bad). I'm not looking for top of the line professional results at this time. In a few eyars when i have a little more time/money to throw at pretty-ing up my car, I'll probably redo them with a full out professional style redo, but if anyone knows a brand/color of rattle can that mathes real close that will stick to plastic, or appropriate plastic primer, I'd really appreciate the help!! tHanks!!!

I bought an A pillar two gauge holder from Poston and the color matches for $28 plus shipping. I would forget the paint and buy one. I can send a Pic. Brad 85GN

I forgot- Poston also sells the console gauge holder in grey as well-$24 plus shipping. Brad

For the time being, my budget is a little restricted... Granted, if the paint is more pricey than a new pod would be, ill just get a new one, but i figure i allready have these, if i can get them to look decent for 10-15 bucks versus 60ish for two new pods... well, thats an easy decision for me right now. At some point down the road, I will likely give the interior a real good going over, and fix all the little things, but for now my mechanical problems take priority (hence the gauges) so my priority is jsut get them installed,, hopefully with some grey trim :)

dye

any auto paint shop should have a dye in a paint can that you just spay on. I have used it if you clean the stuff with thinner it works alot better.

I work in a parts store and they sell interior plastic paint so check a parts store or walmart sells a paint called fusion made by krylon just for plastic not more than ten bucks never used it but heard it good not sure how close it would match to the grey but im sure they have black

good luck Anthony

Well, i found SEM Products Inc.'s website... it looks like their "Color Coat" aerosols is just what I'm looking for, and a few people have allready recomended that to me on some other threads. Anyone know specifically what color to use? they have 56 or so different colors, at least 6-7 of which sound like they might be grey-type colors... anyone have any experience with their products, or know which specific one is the closest match to our interiors? (i have an 85, if that makes any difference in the trim color... i know some 84's had kind of different interiors). Thanks again!!!

Corey we sell the grey interior paint ($11/can) if you're still looking. We've got several cases of grey, burgundy, blue, & the black exterior trim paint available. Email me directly if I can help. Thanks.

Mike,

I appreciate the offer, but i allready got my hands on some of the SEM stuff, I went with their color Presidio, it and one other looked to be about perfect matches colorwise. I wont ahve a chance to actually paint any of thsi until sometime next week (aint that life) but i figure between a coat or 2 of duplicolors adhesion promoter, and a few nice coats of this SEM stuff, it should turn out rpetty nice. Once again, thanks for the offer, if I hadnt allready bought the stuff, I'd have definitely taken you up on it... youre price was a lil cheaper than the store i ended up buying from :)
