replacing steering columnn tommorrow need help

I plan on replacing the steering column in my car tomorrow because some ahole broke into my car. Is there any think i need to know before i get started. I know i need a steering wheel puller but since i am not using the one on the car because they cracked that too can i just beet on it with a hammer or can i use an harmonic balancer puller. Any comment or hints on making this as easy as possible will be greatly appreciated. THANKS

You don't need to pull the steering wheel to change the column.
