Occasionally, we get email sent to info@sftbc.org about car shows and stuff.

Today, I got this: (see below).

After I laughed for about an hour, I replied that I would ask the group.

Let me know if any of you are interested.

Personally, I dig some 80's new wave music, but these bands are g@y as hell.

May be a good place to meet chicks.:D

or dudes...

lol

Subject: Totally 80's Wave - The Flashback Tour

We will be hosting an 80’s concert at the Miami Arena on Saturday,
October 4 and would like to exhibit cars from the 1980’s outside the
main entrance to the Arena. Would you have any members that would like
to participate?

Thanks for your time.
Alex

Here is an update. What an enigma this is...

Thanks for your help. I can give each person that exhibits a car
tickets to the concert that evening; we will line up the cars on North
Miami Ave at the main entrance to the Arena and provide security
throughout the show.
Here are the details on the show:

Now if it was the Beach Boys .....

GOD - I AM getting old - I don't know any of those groups.

Terry

Yeah Terry, those bands are 20 years old!

Didn't you watch MTV when it first came out? They played these guys ALL the time.

Let me give you some hints:
Flock of Seagulls - Dorky g@y @ss haircut. MTV must have played the "I RAN" video over and over again 10000000 times...

General Public - "Tenderness". Played a lot on "chick" radiostations like 97.3 coast.

Animotion - one hit wonder with "Obsession".

Missing Persons - "No more words" or "do you hear me" - I think was the video. She wore plastic see-through shirt and skirt. That is why I remember it. ;) Also played 1000000 times over and over...

Berlin - "take my breath away" video from "Top Gun" movie. Also had a semi hit with "Metro".

Basically, a bunch of "one hit wonders". I am surprised they can fill a venue as big as the arena.

Shawn, I'm kinda ashamed that you know all this stuff. I couldn't have given a single song name from any of them. The only thing I remember is the Flock of Seagulls ghey haircuts, and yes this is from my generation. I was more into the hair metal bands!! Rock on dude!! ;)

Well of course I remember the song from Top Gun. STILL play that DVD on the big screen with the surround turned up so it shakes the windows HA HA
Flock of Sea Gulls I remember too.

Others? Na - remember I'm an old fart compared to you guys (will be 56 in Oct) so I usually have the oldies station tuned in. Now if you get into the 60-70 oldies stuff, I'm a data base HA HA

Terry

It really doesn't matter whose playing. I'll take my car. You never know who you can meet at those kinds of events.

I personally have never heard of any of those groups, though I find that name "flock of seagulls" incredibly funny.

:D

lol....

If they had big hair, had major guitar solos in the songs and rocked, then I was there! I had over 50 concert t-shirts all from about '84-'90

Turn it down you say,
well all I gotta say to you is time and time again i say no
no no no no no

tell me not to play
well all I gotta say when you tell me not to play
I say no
no no no no no

So if you ask me why I like the way I play
there's only one thing
I can say to you

I wanna rock!

Am I the only one displaying my 170K mile "show" car? ;)

Come on guys, I was like 4 when these people were a hit.

I would go. But that dent in my quater panel makes my car look like ASS.

Alex wants you to call him ASAP:

Shawn, WHO CARES what anybody thinks. My car's got rust spots all over and a bullet hole on the hood. So what. I'm not going to let that stop me from having a good time.

Like I said, you never know who you will bump into.

So far it's me and Joe and Dr. Hunt.

Anybody else attending?

Shawn, when did you get a dent in your 1/4??

About six months ago maybe?

When I had the GNX style wheels, the backspace was to deep. Instead of using 1/4" spacers, I used "adapters". One of them must have "bowed out" when we put it on, and it came off while I was driving.

I guess the lord was teaching me humility...

Lesson: "don't rig sh!t up"...

Let me ask you a question, what are the chances you will ever see any of these people again?

If the concert was free, and the GN was your only car, you would probably take it and park it in the parking lot right? You wouldn't let the fact that your car has some dent on it stop you from having a good time right?

What's the difference here?

:)
