I have an 87 Gn with many mods, ran 12.0@113 last year, should run 11.40s or so this year. Anyways, I seem to be getting false knock, the car is rich, 15 lbs of boost, and race gas, but it is still reading high levels of knock. Is there anything that could cause this besides a loose bracket. I'm hoping to race this Wednesday, but I can feel the car detonating, and it has shown up to 10 degrees of knock or more. I do have a cracked exhaust manifold also.

Thanks

you will get knock if it is rich. what are your blms if they are pegged at 150 then your probably getting a rich knock you need to get a new header or weld it up. what kind of bracket are you talking about?

I'll check the blms tomorrow on turbolink. What could be the cause of that, fuel pressure is at 40psi at idle. Also, it doesn't do it every time I get on it, just most of the time. And it even does it sometimes when I part throttle it, 2-3 pounds of boost. I'm taking off the exhaust manifold now, but this would just cause turbo drag right?

Thanks

any vaccum leak will peg your blm's. do you have a engine tie down mine wasnt and i was hitting the a frame which caused false knock also you could lower your fp and see if it goes away 15 # is too low with race gas what kind of chip is it.

I don't always run race gas, I just drained the pump gas, and put race gas in to make sure it wasn't an octane or bad gas issue. Its a cottons perf. street chip I believe, I do have an engine tie down strap. I just noticed the tranny dipstick bracket was broken where it bolts to the tranny top bolt, maybe this was it, although it could still barely move.

i dont think that the loose bracket will cause that since you can feel the car detonate what do you mean feel it usually sounds like a spoon tapping on metal. sounds like fueling problems a rich knock. take it out and see what your o2's are

I guess when I say I can feel it, I mean I can feel the car pulling back. It doesn't spit and sputter, but I can feel the car pulling back timing or something. As soon as I'm done with the brakes here I'm going to take it out and get some numbers for you. I remember the 02s being in the high 800's or so.

o2's should be around 800 to 820 on pump gas and around 760 to 780 on race gas or alky
