put in the 50's tonite and i love them:D i put in the chip thats supposed to be for 50's but by ther black smoke out the exhaust and the flashing SES lite and the cutting out it was obviously the wrong chip so i put in a chip my friend made when i had the stock injectors. the car now spools FAST and the power is great. my question is with a chip made for a car w/stock injectors and put in a car w/50's will this be lean or rich? my friend says rich and i can smell the exhaust and see a kind of blackness in it but it spools so fast it cant be rich. putting it on the DS tomorrow. also, the cars idle and part throttle is great and the spool is fast. i love it but when i let off after boost and it makes that fluuter sound it dies sometimes. is this b/c its rich and flooding it? i can hear it sputter after letting off. i wa gonna get a scanmater saturday but that fell through but i might get one within a week if the guy can find one. please help me w/my car dying problem and let me know if it should be rich or lean:) thanks

Not necessarily. From what you describe, it sounds like the "limp home" calpak? chip was in charge of your fueling system. This chip is simply a bunch of resistors that use parameters based on stock injectors - not those great new 50's that you are running. They will dump a lot more fuel at a given pulse width and make your engine run pig rich. Try re-installing the chip you have for the 50's. Check for bent pins etc. You know the drill. Could also simply be a bad chip - but unlikely. If you do have a bad chip, send it back and get a good one. A chip made for stock injectors will not work with 50's causing your engine to run way too rich.

That would be my guess.

Just a suggestion -- you probably want to remember to change your oil before you put many more miles on your engine. With the amount of unburned fuel dumped in there, you're bound to have some oil dilution. HTH.
 
I agree, put the chip for the 50's back in. The flashing SES light was trying to tell you that either the chip was/is bad, OR it wasn't plugged in cleanly.
That's the reason it ran so badly, it was in limp home mode. You put a stock chip in with 50's, and you're going to be running horribly rich, and could be so badly that you may wash down the cylinder walls and end up with gasoline in the oil, and damaged cylinder walls.

GET THAT STOCK CHIP OUT!
