If replacing rings, I would certainly upgrade to a plasma-moly style, as opposed to going back with a stock cast set!
Unfortunately, he is right in saying that Federal-Mogul is no longer making them. I recently had a heck of a time locating a set of SpeedPro .030 file to fit rings for my rebuild. Federal-Mogul is in shambles right now, and are not the best source these days to readily attain our needs. However, there are warehouses around the country that still have some of the stuff in stock. I found mine in Dallas, per my machinist's connections. I would also check into JE, Total Seal, etc, and see if those guys still have em' or will make em'. Don't rely on what you find (or don't find) in an initial web search with Jeg's or Summit, as they often do not list these special, low volume applications. Call some of the bigger Buick outfits too, like Cotton's, RamChargers, etc, and see if they can outsource for you.
It takes some effort, but is worth it if you plan on beating on the car fairly hard, and want the added insurance of a sturdy ring.
