A friend of mine is going to supercharge his Cadilac CTS-V. What are the pros and cons of roots vs. centrifugal chargers.

Thanks
Rich

Roots is instant response. Think lots of added torque and some horsepower.

Centrifigal's boost is RPM specific so it takes a little longer to build boost. Less torque and more horspower.

Twin screw is also instant response. Think of it as a compromise between the previous two.

What does he want the car for? That's what it all comes down to.

I say go turbo. :D

EDIT: I just saw that it was for a CTS-V. Don't they have a lot of compression stock? You might want to consider a wet shot (a bunch of my buddies have LS1's and nitrous is what they swear by).

He has a Lingenfelter 383 in his vette that puts 500 to the ground. He wants a smooth torque curve with a lot of power and money doesn't appear to be an issue.....must be nice!!!!
I mentioned nos, he wasn't interested. The car burns the tires at will now off the line.

Thanks

Rich
