I am from northern illinois and was sent to Jimmy's Transmission which is only about a 10 min drive and i have heard he is very good and makes quality trans that hold together. I had read prior to this post that one of the first things that a GN owner should do is put a shift kit in the trans to save it some life. I just dropped of the GN this morning and will be getting it back tomorrow afternoon. I asked him what shift kit he used and he said he doesnt use them. I previously owned another GN with a shift kit and honestly loved that hard shift between gears, especially when someone new was in the car and you watched their head snap into the headrest when it shifted into 2nd gear. He told us that his clutches are good enough were we dont need a shift kit and will still have that hard shift. He is a professional and i am just a user of his service but wouldn't it be safe to have both. I come from the theory "when given a choice take both" when it comes to having something being safe then being sorry later for not having it. What are some of your thoughts and inputs.

I'm pretty sure Jimmy is aware of Bruce and PTS and from what I hear down here in Joliet, Jimmy is good. I'd be willing to bet when he says he dosen't use a kit, He means he dosen't use anybody elses kit. I'm sure he does the usual mods of shimming and drilling that are the equivalent of a shift kit w/o useing one. Much like the B&M kit that comes with instructions, drill bits, spacers (nuts or washers do the same thing) and one spring (roll pin works better) and you have to pay $30 for this kit (instructions)

But if you not happy with the shifts when he's done, simply purchase the above mentioned one in the link and put it in. Then I'm sure you'll be happy! :D :D :D
