I dunno...I really LOVE the look of the GNX dash, but I am not sure how difficult it is to do and also the price is quite high for me...is the $900 really worth it? I just can't stand the factory setup anymore...

How many of you have the GNX dash and did you do it yourself??? If not who did? Do you like it?

The GNX dash is on my list of things to be done. I definitely want one and don't think the cost is that high. It comes with your choice of quality gauges and the fact that I don't have to put pods all over the car makes it a hell of a bargain to me. It doesn't look that difficult to install, but ya' never know until you get into it.

When I purchased my T-Type it already had the GNX style dash with VDO guages (thank god). All the guages are very accurate and I think install time would take 4 to 6 HRS. Installation is definitely not for the novice. I love it and if I were to purchase another Turbobuick I would definitely install one.

I will be going that route on the GNX dash, probably form GNXdash up in Sacramento, probably with AutoLite, but I am not about to attempt installation myself. I heard also, that the installation is not for the weak of heart.
Somebody over on the "other" board had a picture of their GNX dash with autolites, for about $ 850.00 out the door, not including installation, and it looked really nice and professional.

I like it and also have a problem with $900.00 to dump on a dash. Then again when you have a 10k engine what is $900.00 to monitor it.

Go for it. :D :D

very true statement there:D

luv mine

I put mine in back in Feb. '89. Took 8 hours. I have enjoyed it alot. Cost $750 back then.

Do it!!

Hey man I would do it. It is something that should have been done on all the turbo regals. Even the Monte ss has a higher reading spedometer then the turbo regals. Like a monte could really touch a turbo regal :D It is funny that the fastest car from gm in 87 did not have a great gauge set up. I will say that the full A pillar and console gauge pods look awesome installed. The first time I saw them was in a gn and I thought they came that way from the factory for a long time. When I have the money I will go to a gnx style dash and house gauges in my pods also. Just to keep that high tech ricer look:D

89 or 99???

i think i will take my chances and get this system...since the GNX is my favorite all time car and i LOVE the gauges...i am going to do it...too bad Buick didn't do this from the factory like the real GNX...but cost was an issue i guess plus plastic garbage idiot lights were COOL back then...who knows!

Anyone have a picture of this dash installed? I went to that site but the pics were broken...

Thanks

the pics work for me fine...do you have some sort of popup ad blocker or something running on your computer? if so that might be causing the pictures not to show?

No, I turned off the A.O.hell pop up blockers and still they will not load. little x's in the corner like a broken pic....

hmmm.... maybe if I use the explorer browser?

lets see...

nope, not even then. WTF??

I did a search and found an ebay auction with a pic so it is not that big of a deal now...

it looks nice, but $$800++. that's almost a set of heads... a new turbo... sure is purty tho'

The GNX dash looks nice, but it would be the last thing I would do after bolting all the speed goodies on first. Fast is more important to me than the bling bling.

well i am about to fork over about $10,000 for a complete rebuild project on my car so what's $900???:D

A 12 inches front disks , with 2 pistons calipers set up or back disks brake for me would be better. ;)

When this happens I believe all you have to do is right click on the x and click on "show picture".

Sixbangr,

What company was that? I bought/installed a GNX dash in 89. It is one with VDO Cockpit gauges and a bank of idiot lights. I think I paid about $400 for it. Two or three years ago the VSS went bad. It rusted solid. I bought the VSS from a company in MI. I thought they took over that business. Does anyone know what that company in MI was called?

The only real headache is the wiring connector. Mine has come lose twice. Once it was the alternator light. That made the car stop charging. The plug on the dash uses a block of spade terminals. The dash side is some sort of spring arrangement. They don't really lock together. On my kit this juction was held together with self vulcanizing tape. As I recall the install to about 6 hours working at a leisurely pace.

I really think the dash adds to the feeling of the car. The stock dash belongs in a mid 70's station wagon. The GNX style dash is more suited to the performance the car is capable of.
