I have been looking and looking and 86-87 GN's are pretty expensive for a nice one. The 84-85 how ever are a bit cheaper. I found an 85 GN all original for $9,000 with 78,000 miles on it. I have only owned hot air regals so I know how to work on them.

Dude, I just bought a NICE 86 Gn for 8 large......

Keep looking! Hot air is for balloons!

IMO thats way too much for a hot air car. For $9000 you can get yourself a nice 86-87 car. My brother just bought a 90k mile t-type with a fresh paint job and all the go fast goodies for $7300. He did have to travel to get it though. Keep looking. I paid $5400 for my gn and it had a newer paint job and the guy had just spend $4300 on a new trans and motor.

For $9000 you should be able to get an 86-87 with less than 100k miles, or one thats been rebuilt with more miles.

Hell for 9 grand I'd sell you MY GN.....wait, you said "nice one". Nevermind. You should definitely be able to find a decent intercooled GN with that kind of budget. Keep looking.

My car was originally hot-air (hence the screen name). But since then, I've gone through many pains to make it an intercooled car. I have nothing against hot-air cars, but as I look back now, it's a matter of "wish I knew now, what I didn't know then".

A lot of great things can be done with hot-airs. Both in performance and collectibility. But, you have to look at the long term picture. For me, I didn't know much better until AFTER I bought the car. So, now I have what I probably wanted originally, but at great expense and a lot of wrenching.
