I have a 1985 GN and yesterday after I picked up the car from the muffler shop I noticed that as I stepped on the gas on first gear it build about 16 LBS of Boost but the car seemed very slow like it was BOGGING DOWN and not going anywhere, it took too long to shift into second gear, the Boost was there but it was still too slow on second. Before it would spool up very fast and it took off. Now it burns the tires real good but after that it hesitates, you can feel it like if it wants to go but it is hesitating. Can anyone of you guys that have experience give me some pointers as to what do you think it may be. I have AVGAS and I just dumped two gallons of Xylene in the Gas Tank and I will try it again later. NO SCAN TOOL THANK-YOU

Mods: Ported & Polished Heads, 3 inch Up/Down Pipe, Cold Air Pipe with 18 inch Cone K&N, Blue Tips Injectors, Postons 93 Octane Chip, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, Adjustable Boost Acctuator, Enhanced Turbo, 2800 Stall Converter, 390 Gears, 3 Inch tubing with 3 Inch Flowmasters with an X Pipe, Postons High Performance Fuel Pump (Soon to be hot wired and a new Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and a new Chip from Joe Lubrant).

TOYS: 2002 True Blue Lightning
1970 Plymouth GTX 440 Six Pack
1969 Roadrunner 510 Cu Inch
1993 Z28 with several bolt ons

Get a scan tool! Trying to tune these cars without one is a guessing game. Slow spool is typically caused by a rich mixture. Could also be a leak in the intercooler, couplers or other vacuum lines that is bleeding off the boost. What was done at the muffler shop? It could also be an 02 sensor on it's way out, fuel filter clogged, etc.....

Joe 1320: I had a big leak on the Up & Down pipe and since he was the one that made the pipes he took care of it I have no leaks now. I also forgot to mention that I think that my Adjustable FP Regulator is no good, because if I set it at 45 PSI and as I step on it with a boost of 15 LBS the pressure should go up 45+15=60, it does not go up it stays the same. BUT if I set it at 60 PSI and get 15 pounds of boost it goes to 75 PSI. I just tried out the car again and it was working fine but I just dumped about 3 gallons of Xylene (Yesterday) after the GN's poor performance and today it hauled A**, I also did not experience any noticeable KNOCK. Joe what kind of Scan Tool would you recomend and about how much do they cost. I also (Think) that I have a 1986 ECM on the vehicle, because this guy that I know told me that while my car was at this shop he loaned them his ECM and they tried it on my car and stayed there. I also got a new chip from Joe Lubrant a new adjustable FP regulator and a hot wire kit for the gas pump that (these things have not been put on the car yet but soon they will be). THANK-YOU:cool:

cool, get all that stuff installed and get a scantool.then you'll be ready to start making power.

also,i don't mean to piss ya off,but what's the point of running an x-pipe on a turbo car?i am familiar with the concept(i have one on my plymouth)but the theory in no way applies to a turbo car.there are basically no exhaust pulses, and all the exhaust is coming from one tube off of the turbo.just wondering:confused: .

later,sean
