I've been taking several Fridays off to use up vacation days. I start early on projects around the house and by lunchtime, the heat has taken it's toll and I take a break. Naturally, all that's on TV are soap operas.

Soaps are great if you are a Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan. They are target rich of questioning statements from the actors that you can reply to easily with cynical answers and be entertained. The bonus is an abundance of hot babes. However the commercials are pretty stunning. There are so many ads that promote the benefits of pills for hyperactivity, depression, fatigue, you name it. All are narrated with a pseudo-caring and "don't you want to take care of your family" type of sales pitch. Viewers are urged repeatedly to see their doctor.

This is poor advertising in my opinion. It looks like just one more attempt to cash in on those who won't take personal responsibility for themselves. Pills are the answer? Bah.

If you'd like to see it for yourself, pop in a tape and record about 4 hours worth of daytime TV from 11am on. You'll be amazed.

Hey John, they are merely targeting their audience. Notice how you havent seen any nestle quick chocolate commercials since you were watching saturday morning cartoons as a kid. Besides, if you are burning free days at the house, you should be watching fox news or Espn, and listening to the cult or something on the stereo:D

Watch something that requires concentration on my day off? Fiddlesticks! But The Cult do rule! Ian Astbury, best male rock vocalist ever.
