In GM High Tech Mag.

A stock GN took
524' to stop from 100
319' from 80
179' from 60

Vacuum Assist dropped that to
421' 100->0
261' 80->0
150' 60->0

Populat Hot Rodding just did a Baer conversion on 76 Camaro
Stock 60->0 was 217'
Better Tires 60-> 164'

Then after adding A Baer Font end kit, at $1,345, and rears at $875
Managed to stop from 60-> in 134'

Today while playing with my new G-Tech RR. Using my 02 Camaro fronts at $650, and $250 rears, I did

75->0 153'
80->0 175'

Without having optimized the brake balance, and these were just first tries. The 75->0 was with some front wheel lock up.
I should mention that it's plowing time, so the roads were rather dusty. Oh, justa vacumm power booster. Should I mention that having another 1,000 PSI of line pressure would just have locked up the fronts easier?. The 85 Regal Master Cylinder, vaccum booster setup. 225/50x16 fronts, and 285/45x17 rears, all are DKW BF Goodrich.

vacuum brakes

sounds like vacuum is the way to go.
Better numbers both on the skip pad and the wallet !

easier to fix and dependable.

Bruce , those are decent stopping numbers, what dia. disc are you using, and which calipers. I going with a 14" baer disc , 6 piston caliper on an 18 by 8.5 wheel/ 255/40 on the front and 13"disc , 4 piston out back on an 18 by 10 wheel/ 295/40-45 tire. I think a 45 sidewall at 28.31 would look better tucked inside the fender with the car lowered. oh well just thinking outloud, I"m looking foward to how fast this combination will stop. Jeff

The 2002 Camaro brakes.
12x1.25 front rotors.
12x1 rear.

I've yet to optimise the M/C, and I'm thinking now of going up to 17s in the front with 275/45s, and 315/50x17s for the rear.

Be sure to let your passengers know that it has good brakes so they don't leave too many forehead impressions in the dash. :)

Oh, BTW, those distances were with a passenger, and the gross weight was right at 3,950#.

If/ when I do *the next step*, I'm going to have them powder coated black.

I got them at Jeg's.

I've seen grey, and black ones on ebay, but it's a firm in CA, and I just don't like dealing with firms, I can't drive to.
