I have just come across two Early model 3.8 blocks with the the

casting #'s 25500004 . (Blocks are almost identacal, except one

has a 5 in the casting & the other has a 6) They have casting

structure for 4 bolt maincaps on # 2 & 3 , but do not have the

provisions for the extra head bolts. Any info would be great.

Thanx,
Chris

Also , They are off center Blocks and have a different bolt pattern

on the oil pick-up tube provision. Do you think these blocks were

prototypes.

These are very early castings. I just had the opportunity to by 2 in their original crate in cosmoline. Conley ended up buying them. They were offered at $400 each.

I opted not to purchase them because the lack of material in the lifter valley. There is material that connects the lifter bores from side to side, but in between that material are large holes. The integrity of the block is jeopardized on the top end with the lack of material. Additionally, there is no knock sensor provision and there is no oiling for a turbo.

I was never able to find any Buick literature on these blocks. They are not listed in the Buick Performance catalog.
