OK, not that complicated but it has me stumped...Everytime I start my car, I have to attempt to start the car twice...No, I do not actually turn the key all the way off after the first attempt so I am not priming the fuel again...It just always takes two attemepts to start the car....I turn the key, it turns over maybe 5 - 6 times, I let go of the key ( no start ) wait a couple of seconds, I then turn the key, it turns over 1 or 2 times and BANG starts without a hiccup...Any clue?????

1987 Grand National Totally stock...Except RJC Racing Plate

No, I do not have a fuel pressure gauge on it...I think it is quite weird that I always have to try to start it twice...Now, if I have been driving and turn off the car ( say ) to get some gas, when I try to start it after filling up, NORMALLY, it will start after maybe 3-4 engine turn overs ( I assume left over gas in the engine )....I have the normal BOSCH 237 regulator ( I believe it is ) in the car right now ( stock ), I do have the GNX BOSCH regualtor which I believe is a 244 in a box somewhere, do you think I should try that puppy out??? I am not thinking it is the fuel pump cause even if I prime it a second time, it still does not start on the first go....

it wouldnt hurt to try the other regulator for sure, possibly a weak coil pack?? could be an issue where the 340 pump is too much for a stock regulator, did u replace the fuel filter? & if so did u use the ac delco stock replacement?

I did replace the fuel filter with the proper AC Delco filter just a year ago....What do you mean the fuel pump may be to STRONG for the stock regulator??? I would think if anything, the stock fuel pump will be to weak for the GNX regulator, being it requires more pressure....I think the stock GN pushes out 37-38 psi where the GNX regulator pushes out 42-44 psi....

How would you know what fuel pressure is pushing when you claimed you don't have a fuel pressure.
You can get a fuel pressure gauge and place it on the fuel rail
This link is an example of fuel gauges and prices: http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/items.asp+Cc+GAUGE+Bc+

So you do hear the fuel pump prime on initial start (like sitting overnight first time start)?

What mr nasty posted, it appears that the fuel pump relay isn't working and you need to crank enough to close the oil pressure bypass switch. When that occurs the engine then has fuel and starts.

I hear the fuel pump prime everytime I turn the key on ( after sitting for awhile )....I replaced the fuel pump relay already even though I did not need it....Figured it only cost me a few bucks ).....So, I seriously do not think it is the fuel pump, but I may be wrong..Yes I should hook up a fuel pressure guage to verify but I have not...I have also done all the plugs ( gapped properly ), wires ( Aproper AC Delco for this car ) , proper fuel injectors ( they were leaking ) , I have done all of this cause I rescued the car out of a storage facility in Toronto about 3 years ago...I have finally made this car run the way it should ( except for this starting issue ) which really, is not big woop, I just have to start it twice....But if I could figure this out, the car would be perfect....

I guess GNOONYX did not actually read all that I posted, or mis-read it...I stated that the fuel regualtor on normal GN's push 37-38 PSI ( if it is the BOSCH 233 installed ), where the GNX regualtor ( BOSCH 237 ) pushes I believe 42-44 PSI...I never once said that I was getting enough fuel pressure from the fuel pump, even though, after the car is started, it runs perfectly fine even with normal 12 - 14 PSI while travelling....I do understand that if the fuel pump is weak, the car will still run MOSTLY fine after started but what is getting me is, I do not prime the car a second time when i go to start it, so, if maybe I had a leak a

HMM, I wonder what happened there, to finish the above reply,

I guess I will just get a fuel pressure guage like GNOONYX says....It will eliminate ( for sure ) that problem, maybe the fuel pump is weak and it can not build up the pressure enough in the lines.....Exacly where should I measure from and are there any lines I should take off when measuring???? Thanx for all the info guys ( gals ) I have basically made this thing run perfect, except for this one thing ( and really, it is no biggy )...I rescued the car out of a storage unit in Toronto, Canada and have replaced quite a few items on the car ( radiator, plugs, wires, fuel injectors just to name a few and yes, I have used all the proper items ) Radiator killed me, it as leaking...It has been three years and almost done...

The fuel pressure gauge goes on the fuel rail by the regulator

It may not be the best looking picture, but this will give you an idea of what I did. I also place a schrader valve on the end of the fuel rail just in case I want to verify the primary fuel pressure rail gauge is still accurate.

Great pics I think, thanx for the info, a picture is worth a thousand words...Now I just need all the parts..I have heard many people talk about leaking gas cause they didn't get the correct parts ( fittings )...Where and or what parts should I get to do this...I want to do it once and once only ( the correct way ).....Can I grab all the parts from GBODY???? or is there some other place I should get this stuff, what are the specs of the items I need...Is everything universal or should I get specil threads...You know all the questions....

If you read my thread on #6; I already gave you the site where I got mine. You might have to look into EBay of your local auto store for the schrader valve.
