Here's a little warning to everyone for next year. Just stay the hell away from that place!!

One friend of mine was told upon arriving that they had never made a reservation even though the reservation had been guaranteed with a credit card.

Another friend was told that they did not has a reservation either. Even though, they were told over the phone that if they arrived before midnight there was no need for a credit card to secure the room. When given the name and details of the associate that was spoken to at the Microtel, the management told them that this employee quit shortly after the reservation was made the week before the nats.

I called the front desk and asked if a certain number was a local call. After being told yes, I proceeded to use the number to dial my Internet provider many times during my stay at the Microhell. Upon checkout I found $80 worth of long distance charges on my bill. I inquired about it and was told that the number in questions is not a local number from the hotel. FROM THE HOTEL is the important part here. Because if you went outside to a payphone and dialed the number, it would cost you the normal $0.25 because it IS a local call for the area. But NOT FROM the hotel.

Whatever...

I'm sure other people had problems as well I just didn't hear about.

For what I had to pay at the Microhell, I could have stayed at an Embassy Suites. I will sleep in my car next year before I stay at that place.

I will also do everything in my power to make sure that all of the Buick people know about this place. I hope no one stays there next year when the rest of the places are booked. That will send them a clear message.

I was told to complain to corporate offices about the phone call thing. Trust me, I will. The friends mentioned above can have names put to them as soon as they say it's ok.

I'm really contemplating taking out an ad in The Build Sheet the issue before the nats next year just to warn everyone that doesn't read the board.

I'm cross posting this on all the boards.

Rant over...

Yeah, but at least I got the girl at the front desk to show her tattooed-tits. ;) She also pulled up her pants to show us a tattoo on her leg...but the chest-baring was more fun. Paul Beal's wife (and your's Jeremy) egged her on to show more. I eventually walked away laughing myself silly.

The people at the Microtel also "lost" Phil and Tammy's reservation, but had a room available when they got there. I also agree that the telephone situation there makes it a place not to stay next year.

I stayed at the Microtel as well. The room was decent and clean. The staff there were friendly and nice. But I was witness to all the problems with reservations and I can tell you, it was not pretty. The friends Jeremy is referring to came real close to not having a place to stay at all. It was totally screwed up and as a result they may have had to stay in one of our rooms. We offered to let them spend the night in our rooms, but if that had been then outcome, I would have been just as ticked at the Microtel.

I will give credit to the girl at the front desk (the one bearing breasts) for really trying to find another place for the people with reservation problems. It wasn't her fault, she was just catching all the **** in the middle of the night. She had even stated that this had happened on a couple of occasions that very night.

The hotel probably overbooked, which is a common practice, but not taking credit cards to secure a room even when offered is definately screwed up.

My last little rant involves my room which was quoted as one price on the phone and another price upon checkout. The difference was only $5 a night, but the principle is there. I'll definately look at any other hotel other then the Microtel next year.

I'll add to the list:

1. Sheets were stained, clean, but stained non the less.

2. Nasty looking stains on the cushion thingy next to the window.

3. Room was ill kept all around, had not been cleaned good for some time (hair, cobwebs, worn out towels, etc).

4. Toilet had a leak which caused it to refill the tank every couple hours. It was really loud so I shut off the valve each night before going to sleep.

5. Front Desk clerk had a child on her hip and another running around her legs upon check-in.

I work at a 3 Diamond Hotel here in Annapolis so I may be somewhat influenced. The rate was cheap compared to what we charge. What I paid for 3 nights would be one night at our Hotel and even more for an event that sells out the town. I would expect to see some of the above issues at a family run Motel in the middle of no-where but feel the quality should have been better for the money in this case.

I will never stay at another Microtel!

Scott,

That was a lot of fun, but how did you know she had tattoo's??

Our room was clean and we didn't have any troubles, I am sorry to hear that others did.

Did you happen to video tape my wife's burnout in the back parking lot Saturday night before the police showed up?? If you have it can you email it to me at the address below?

Thanks to all involved, my wife and I had a great time.

The BPG (I have that responsibility) is going to notify the Microtel about the problems also. If they don't come up with satisfactory answers, we will "blacklist" them from our hotel roster. Please continue listing all complaints on this thread and I will make sure each one is passed on via the BPG.

They might be surprised if they find out the front desk people are flashing tatoo's to their customers. Yes Scott, how did you know about the tatoo's?

Thanks.

Thanks for support with this. It was only a damper on what turned out to be a great time. The girl flashing customers wasn't that bad. I beleive it was requested to see tatoos. Don't get the idea that we asked for a room and got a boob instead. :)

I guess I just have more tolerance at a cheap hotel - I thought it was okay. Bed felt like the usual plywood with sheets on it that all hotels use :-). Tim made the reservations and we guaranteed the rooms with a credit card, and they were there as expected when we showed up Friday night at about 9 pm or so. I tried to make a local call and couldn't get an outside line, so I just figured that I had to go to the desk and get them to turn the phone on, or something, but I never got around to it (used a cell instead). I did notice that the bill included $1 per day for the safe in the room even though the safe had a sticker that said you would be charged each day you used it, which of course made me think that you wouldn't be charged if you didn't use it :-). I'm sure the Holiday Inn would have been cleaner and with more amenities, at twice the price.

Thanks John. It's good to know that something will be done about this place.

Carl, for what I had to pay because of the phone calls, it would have been cheaper for me to spend $65 a night at some "other" hotel.

I have to agree that the whole telephone thing there was well below par. You can stay at a Motel 6 for the same price and their phones work...that is, you can make local calls (and they are free).

I thought it was pretty lame that to call the Red Roof Inn, which was 200 yards away) I had to A) try to call using the instructions on the phone - which didn't work, B) call the front desk to find out why, C) have the front desk "turn the phone ON" (there is a big sticker that says local calls are $0.25...why impede my desire to spend a quarter?), D) try to redial the Red Roof - it didn't work, E) call the front desk again - who explained you had to dial the area code as well...its 200 yards away!! (this is a local phone company issue not the hotel's) and F) weigh my options to possibly be hit with long distance charges to call the Red Roof since I had to dial the area code. I then G) used a cell phone and didn't pay an extra dime. Once I got through it turned out the person I was looking for wasn't even at that hotel...

I staid there to the air cond. did not work. The window didn't open only 4 inches and the bed spread had a 5 inch hole in it.It sucked.I will slep in a ditch next year.

I also work at a 4 star 4diamond resort. But our rooms are NO compairision to these.

I do not think it would be too cool to cost someone a job over that!

The night I checked in she had a low cut blouse on. It was pretty hard to miss the tattoos. That's how I knew about them.

She only showed them because we egged her on...at 12 midnight. As much as Shannon Beal tried, we could not get her to actually pull her wholetit out. I didn't want to see that anyway...she was fairly large to begin with. I doubt if she would get fired for comlying with a guest's request.

How much a night was this notell motel?
Priecs ranged from $32.95 a night all the way up to $79.95 a night. The formed being the advance BPG rate and the latter being the "I just pulled into town, I know it is Saturday night, But do you have a room available?" rate ;)

Yah.. the window only opened four inches. LOL. There's a 'stop' on the window that came off with wing nuts. I made sure I left it on the window sill when I left.
