Here's a little warning to everyone for next year. Just stay the hell away from that place!!
One friend of mine was told upon arriving that they had never made a reservation even though the reservation had been guaranteed with a credit card.
Another friend was told that they did not has a reservation either. Even though, they were told over the phone that if they arrived before midnight there was no need for a credit card to secure the room. When given the name and details of the associate that was spoken to at the Microtel, the management told them that this employee quit shortly after the reservation was made the week before the nats.
I called the front desk and asked if a certain number was a local call. After being told yes, I proceeded to use the number to dial my Internet provider many times during my stay at the Microhell. Upon checkout I found $80 worth of long distance charges on my bill. I inquired about it and was told that the number in questions is not a local number from the hotel. FROM THE HOTEL is the important part here. Because if you went outside to a payphone and dialed the number, it would cost you the normal $0.25 because it IS a local call for the area. But NOT FROM the hotel.
Whatever...
I'm sure other people had problems as well I just didn't hear about.
For what I had to pay at the Microhell, I could have stayed at an Embassy Suites. I will sleep in my car next year before I stay at that place.
I will also do everything in my power to make sure that all of the Buick people know about this place. I hope no one stays there next year when the rest of the places are booked. That will send them a clear message.
I was told to complain to corporate offices about the phone call thing. Trust me, I will. The friends mentioned above can have names put to them as soon as they say it's ok.
I'm really contemplating taking out an ad in The Build Sheet the issue before the nats next year just to warn everyone that doesn't read the board.
I'm cross posting this on all the boards.
Rant over...
